Painterly

 I have the day off from teaching, and would have probably slept in if it hadn't forgot to turn off my alarm. Not wanting to miss an opportunity for a delicious sunrise,  I threw on some clothes,  grabbed some coffee,  and headed out. I didn't have a lot of time before the sun rose, and I would head to a nearby lake and hope to make it. On the way I have to drive past a walmart, sandwiched between a wetland and the highway. I was delighted to see the retention pond for rainwater runoff was shrouded in mist, giving the whole scene a more mysterious air. When the sun rose above the horizon it inflamed the mists creating an otherworldly glow. The chain link fence, garbage,  and weeds fell away to reveal the beauty of the moment. The clear,  bright light illuminated some of the first casualties of the season changing.
